BCL is contracted with Medicare, Mass Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BC/BS), Tufts Health Plans, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care (HPHC) and most other major and minor health insurance organizations. Patients may choose to be billed directly or use their health insurance for laboratory services. If patient billing is elected, 50% of the total charge will be due upon sample collection. If patient elects to use her/his active health insurance, we will bill the health insurance organization directly. Any charges that are not covered, or should the patient have a deductible or co-insurance, then the patient will be responsible for any outstanding charges. Please note that certain HMO’s require prior approval of laboratory procedures.
- Please call (781) 893-1557 to arrange for billing.
Required Third-Party Billing Information:
BCL can bill and will accept payment from many agencies and insurance companies. Provide accurate and up to date information at every visit to avoid follow-up correspondence from the Billing Department.
Patients need to show a picture ID and their health insurance identification cards to ensure proper ID number, eligibility dates, correct spelling of names, etc. This information must appear clearly on the requisition form. A copy of their card (front and back) attached to the requisition is preferred. Patients will be responsible for such charges as non-covered services, co-insurance charge, and deductible amounts depending on the type of coverage. If you have any billing questions or concerns, contact the Billing Department for assistance.
